Reclaimed Story is creating a collective community of Reclaimers.
Our hope is that you would encounter the love of God in such a way that it inspires your identity, empowers your beliefs, influences your perspective and equips you in your purpose.
Many gray hairs ago, in a job interview far far away…I (Alicia) was applying to work in kids’ ministry at our church, and our friendship began. Denisha was already on staff and we were instant friends after her family made a rap video for my birthday. Yep, they did… no, we aren’t posting it.
Alicia and I (Denisha) have been saying for years that we would someday start a ministry together. It wasn’t just because our names rhyme, but that was a helpful selling point. We always thought of it as far off in the distant future…you know, ”one day”… But we didn’t know when “one day” would get here.
And then, (dramatic music), summer of 2018, Denisha went on sabbatical. When she came back…apparently, “one day” had arrived. She called me, all excited, talking a mile a minute and telling me that it was time to launch this site called Reclaimed Story. She had already bought the domain name, got the Twitter and Instagram handles. I thought, “Okay…I guess we are doing this. Here goes nothing.” (I have great faith…)
And so we set out on the journey of designing our branding, laughing; creating the website, laughing; writing content, laughing… I can’t figure out why we keep getting distracted and why this has taken so long….I still have to teach Denisha how to use Twitter and Instagram but that’s ok. *wink*
And so here we are, stepping into our dream of seeing people equipped to walk in the full realization of their power and identity in Christ.
I, (Denisha) got the word “Reclaimed” years ago and we both fell in love with its meaning and what it represents. Here is the definition as pieced together from online dictionaries.
Reclaim – verb
- To retrieve or recover (something previously lost, given, or paid); to demand or obtain the return of, to regain possession of.
- To bring (wasteland or land formerly under water) under cultivation. To bring (uncultivated areas or wasteland into a condition for cultivation or other use.
- To rescue from an undesirable state, to restore to a previous natural state.
- To make available for use by changing natural conditions, to recall from wrong or improper conduct.
This is our hope, to point you to the only One who can reclaim your story and empower you to live the life you were created to live.
Regardless of what has happened in the narrative of your story, where you are at in your story today or what you believe is true about your story, there is hope, there is healing, there is Jesus. In short, I’d say we are proclaiming: “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” (Colossians 1:27) and the entirety of what that means.
We are creating a collective community of Reclaimers.
Our hope is that you would encounter the love of God in such a way that it inspires your identity, empowers your belief, influences your perspective and equips you in your purpose.
We do this because of what has been done (and still is being done) in our lives through Jesus. We started Reclaimed Story because of the love of God experienced in our lives and our hope is that anyone who passes through Reclaimed Story is touched by a personal encounter with Love.
Let’s live the reclaimed life together!
